The oddest scab has formed

On the back of my left hand

For a cut that just appeared  

From the angle that I see the cut from

When I hold out my hand,

The scab is a red heart

Radiating crinkled skin lines

A moment after I first read this piece

In typed form in my collection of poems,

Finally having typed it up and put it in the collection

Seven months after the cut had healed,

The song coming from the radio in the other room

Was Jackson Browne singing "In the Shape of a Heart"
