Fermat's Last Theorem
Has been stated twice today,
Both times in unlikely places
First it served as an example
For formatting theorems
In the LaTeX document preparation manual
I didn't read that section
And only noticed the example at all
Because it was right above a section I did read
Now it has popped up, misstated and out of context
In the Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion
At the end of the comments about an episode (The Royale)
I got the Companion two days ago at the UCSD bookstore
While searching for something else (Moonheart) --
This is the first time I'd seen one
Though not thinking of it at the time,
That evening I would finally be capturing
The last TNG episode that I needed to retape
This would give me all of the episodes in good shape,
Completing a project that had spanned the last couple of years
And had dragged out for months for the final few episodes

During a drive sandwiched between the theorem bookends
I saw two plates containing BABY within two minutes:
BABYL MA and TBABY 7
