Joel Breeze was one of my buddies

During sophomore year of high school  

His family moved to California after that year

So I figured I'd never see Joel again  

When I went away to college in southern California a few years later I decided to try to look Joel up  

I remembered he'd said they were moving to Sherman Oaks  

Looking under Breeze in the appropriate phone directory

I got hold of Joel  

We got together a few times  

At one point Joel asked if I knew somebody named Alan Emkin‑‑‑

This guy was from my hometown in New Jersey

And currently in one of Joel's classes at San Fernando Valley State  

I sure did know him  

I'd known Alan since early grade school  

The three of us eventually got together at the beach one January day

And reveled in the warmth

While we recalled winter back in our home state
